Stick Drift Test - How to Diagnose and Fix Joystick Drift
Stick drift means the system sees movement while your thumb is off the stick. To check it, place the pad on a flat surface and leave both sticks alone for ten to twenty seconds. Why isn't my controller detected?
Press a physical button after connecting it. Then check that the browser is on HTTPS or localhost, close other apps that may claim the device, and try a direct USB connection. Some mobile browsers expose fewer Gamepad API features.
Can this test prove that a controller is fully repaired?
It can confirm the signals visible to the browser at that moment. It cannot certify long-term durability, console behavior, wireless stability in every room, or a part-level repair. Repeat the check under the same conditions.
Why does the button name differ from the marking on my pad?
Physical labels and software indices are not always the same. XInput, DirectInput, Steam Input, and vendor drivers can map one physical control in different ways. Use Raw Data and the game's own binding screen to compare the path.
Why doesn't vibration work?
The browser must expose a vibration actuator for the connected device. The feature may be missing over Bluetooth, blocked by a driver, limited by low battery, or unsupported by the browser. Try USB, press a button, and use the preset again. The page reports when no rumble API is available.
