This free browser test checks stick center and reach on supported PlayStation pads. It can guide a real USB calibration flow in Chrome or Edge. It also has a safe demo path when no pad is near your desk. Demo Mode uses sample data only and does not access or write to a controller.
Stick drift can start with a tiny twitch. Your game may show a slow walk, a loose aim, or a menu that moves on its own. A deadzone can hide that twitch. It also cuts off some of the useful stick range. A calibration pass works at a lower level. It asks the pad to set a new center and map its full reach. That makes the fix useful across more than one game.
The page uses WebHID, so the browser talks to the pad on your own device. No driver or app install is needed. A USB cable is required. Bluetooth does not expose the feature reports used by this task. A stable link also helps keep a write safe. Keep the cable firm from the first step to the last one.
PlayStation Controller Calibration Hardware Checklist
Start with the right setup. Use a genuine DualShock 4 or standard DualSense. Charge the pad well before you begin. A low cell can stop a safe save. Use a data cable, not a charge-only lead. Open the page in Chrome or Edge on a desktop or laptop. Phones and most tablets do not offer the same WebHID path.
USB data cable
Use a short, firm cable. Avoid loose hubs during a write.
Good battery level
A level of 30% or more is needed for a save gate.

Clear desk space
You need room to turn each stick in wide, slow circles.

How to Test PlayStation Controller Calibration Online
Connect by USB, follow the center and range prompts, check the live result, then save only when every safety row is green.
Connect by USB
Press Connect Controller. Pick the pad in the browser prompt. The tool checks its Sony vendor and product IDs. It then reads a small set of device data. A known model can move on to the next phase. A wrong pad gets a clear block message.
Set the center
Hold the pad flat. Follow the on-screen cue for the left and right sticks. Move with care, then let both sticks rest. The center pass samples the range around neutral. Do not press a trigger or touch the cable while this step runs.
Map the range
Turn each stick in a slow full circle. Reach each edge, but do not slam the cap into the shell. The live plot fills as new points arrive. A wide, even trace gives a better map than a fast, rough spin.
Check the result
Move the sticks in a game-like way. Watch the pointer and center mark. Look for a jump at rest. Look for a missing corner at the edge. This phase stays temporary, so you can run the pass again before a save.
Save with care
A permanent write is a choice, not an auto action. Read the safety panel. Type SAVE in the box. The button stays locked if the pad is not on USB, the battery is low, or the model is not safe.
What the live plots show
Each round plot has a center point, a deadzone ring, and an outer range ring. The blue dot tracks the left stick. The purple dot tracks the right one. At rest, both dots should sit near the middle. A dot that wanders while your hand is off the cap may point to drift. A dot that stops short on one side may point to wear or a bad map.
The plot is a guide, not a lab grade tool. Room noise, a bent cap, and a tired pot can shape the trace. Run the same motion more than once. Keep the motion slow. Never pull the USB lead during a write. If you need to stop, use the temporary path and restart the pad before you try again.
🛡️ Safety before speed
Built-In Protection
The save path has more than one check. A temporary pass comes first, while the permanent action needs a known pad, a stable USB link, and a good cell.
Low-level pad work needs care. A lost link at the wrong time can leave a write half done. That is why the save control does not act like a normal form button. It stays off until the page has enough proof to proceed. The check is local. It does not send pad data to a remote host.
Battery check
The page asks for a known battery level. A level below 30% blocks a permanent write. An unknown level also blocks it. This adds a buffer for the short NVS write stage.
USB check
A USB input report has a known size. The page uses that signal to mark the link as ready. A Bluetooth report does not pass this gate. Keep wireless play for after the work is done.
Device check
The page matches Sony IDs and reads a model report. Unknown pads and clone responses do not get a write path. DualSense Edge is blocked on this page, as are older and third-party models.
Save check
You must type SAVE. This small pause helps stop a rushed click. You can test the temp result first and choose to leave the pad unchanged after a restart.

What to do if a step fails
Read the error text on the tool card. If the pad drops out, reconnect it with USB and start from the connect phase. If a report is not accepted, close other pad tools. Some apps keep a HID link open. A fresh browser tab can help too. Do not force a save after a failed step. The safe path is to stop, check the cable, and try the phase again.
For rumble or motor faults, use the Controller Vibration Test. It checks a different part of the pad. A stick map cannot tell you if a motor is weak. Separate tests give you a clearer view of the fault.

Use a genuine Sony pad with a USB data link. Model support matters because each family has its own report layout and command set.
A product name alone does not tell the full story. Two pads can look close yet use a different report map. The tool reads the vendor and product IDs first. It then asks for a model report before it shows a save path. This keeps a wrong command away from an unknown device.

Models this page does not write
DualSense Edge, DualShock 3, and third-party clones are outside this page's write path. Edge has removable stick modules and its own needs. A clone may report a Sony-like ID but fail its info check. A DualShock 3 uses an older link and report set. Use a normal gamepad test for input checks on those pads. Do not try to bypass a block by changing the browser prompt.
A new firmware build can also change a response. If a supported pad fails its info read, treat that as a stop signal. Save no data. Note the pad model, browser, and error text before asking for help. That record is more useful than a guess made from the shell color or sticker.

Will a calibration change my warranty?
A firmware-level change may be treated as an unapproved modification by a maker. Warranty terms vary by place and product. If your pad is new or still covered, check the maker's support terms before you write. You can use the demo path and the live plots without changing the pad. A plain drift test is also a safe first check.
Can a save make the pad unusable?
Any low-level write has risk if power or the data link is cut. The page blocks low or unknown battery states. It also asks for USB, a known model, and the exact SAVE text. Those checks lower the chance of a bad write, but no browser tool can promise zero risk. Test the temporary result first. Never pull the cable during the save step.
Why is Bluetooth not allowed?
Bluetooth exposes a higher level gamepad link. The low-level feature reports used for this task are available on the USB path. USB also gives a steadier link while the page reads and writes short reports. Pair the pad again after the work if you want to play without a cable.
How is this different from a deadzone setting?
A deadzone is a game-side filter. It tells the game to ignore small input near the center. That can hide drift, but it can also reduce fine aim and walk control. A calibration pass changes the center and range data used by the pad. The two ideas can work side by side, but a deadzone does not repair a worn part.
What if the new result looks worse?
Stop before a permanent save if the live plot looks wrong. Run the temp path again and use slow, full stick motion. If you already saved, a new pass can write a new map when the pad and browser meet all gates. A pad with a worn pot may need a repair, since software cannot rebuild a bad part. Keep notes on each result so you can compare them.
Can I use the pad on PS5 or PS4 after a save?
The browser step runs on a desktop or laptop. Once the pad is done, you can unplug it and use it with a console in its usual way. Pairing, cable choice, and console support still follow the pad's own rules. If the console shows odd input, run the normal PS5 DualSense test and compare the stick view with the game that shows the fault.
Does Demo Mode touch my controller?
No. Demo Mode uses made-up stick points in the browser. It shows the same phase labels and safety layout, but it does not open a HID device or send a report. Use it to learn the flow, check the page on a phone, or test a keyboard path before you connect a real pad.
